Silas James is a Specialty Costume Fabricator with IATSE 705, the Motion Picture Costumers Union. He graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a BFA in Scenic and Costume Design in December of 2016. He has been working in the Los Angeles area in theater and film production for about four years. He has worked in specialty costume fabrication for artists such as Lil Nas X and Lizzo, on costumes for Lovecraft Country, and as a wardrobe assistant for East West Players and Troubadour Theater Company, . Before that, he was working in Seattle as a set design assistant for Matthew Smucker, on Matilda, and Into the Woods. Silas has also designed burlesque, props, puppetry, and masks, both in and outside of Cornish. He is located in Los Angeles, currently, where he works freelance as a specialty costume fabricator and leatherworker, as well as an alterations specialist.
